CAGED Chords

Now this is the really cool part.

The chords are laid out in this order C – A – G – E – D “CAGED”

Knowing all of the CAGED chords close to the NUT on the fret board, you can easily figure out all of the CAGED chords up the neck.

Chords:

Major “C”

Major “A” Major “G” Major “E” Major “D”

Look at the fret board and start with the “C” chord. The next “C” up the neck will look like an “A” then the next a “G”, then “E” then “D” and finely “C” again on the 12th fret. “CAGED”

All of the chords will work this way.

Next, try the “A” chord, then find the other “A” chords up the neck. First one looking like “G”, then “E” then “D” then “C” then ending with “A”

Here’s “G”, then “E”, then “D”, then “C”, then “A”, then “G”

Here’s “E”, then “D”, then “C”, then “A”, then “G”, then “E”

Last one, “D”, then “C”, then “A”, then “G”, then “E”, then “D”

Power chords

These are bar chords played with your index finger holding down one of the two top strings and the ring finger holding down two strings, two frets up the neck.

Remember the spacing, there are no major notes between (E and F) and (B and C)

“E” is just using one finger, the rest you will be using two.

E – F – G – A – B – C – D – E

“A” is just using one finger, the rest you will be using two.

Next string down

A – B – C – D – E – F – G - A
